DG Don Maynes
DG Don Maynes is a Charter member of the Pleasant Hill Lions Club, and along with Lion Nancy, has been a member since August, 2003. During that time period he has served as 3rd Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Vice President, President, and is currently a member of the clubís Board of Directors. At the District level, Don has served as Zone Chair, 2nd Vice District Governor, and 1st Vice District Governor. Don is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a three-time recipient of the International Presidentís Commendation, and has been named Lion of the Year by his Club. He is a graduate of Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute. He has also served as a member of the Iowa Lions Foundation 2013 Gala, and also served as volunteer coordinator for the International Beep Baseball Tournament held in Ames, Iowa in July, 2012.
Don has lived in the Des Moines area all of his life. He has travelled extensively for work and by calculation, has spent over a year in the air. He grew up helping his Grandfather and two Uncles with their farming operations near Mitchellville and St. Charles, and delivered farm machinery to earn money while attending Grand View University. He currently provides consulting services directed at health care workplace safety.
In addition to serving in Lions Club, Don has a long history of volunteer efforts serving as Treasurer, Chairman of the Trustees, and member of the Executive Board of his church; serving as President of several youth athletic programs; is the first inductee into the Altoona Little League Hall of Fame; and is currently serving Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator for Parks Community Thanksgiving Dinner (serving over 3,400 meals annually to people in need).
Don has two sons, Marty and Jeff, one daughter, Jennifer, and five grandchildren.
